Flanders in Action (ViA) is Flanders’ ambitious project for the future. In 2020, Flanders wants to achieve a leading position among the best performing European regions. Therefore the Government of Flanders, the social partners and the representatives of the civil society signed the Pact 2020, that consists of twenty ambitious objectives with a set of corresponding target figures.
On the 21st of June 2012 the workshop "Flanders in Action and the Europe 2020 Dimension" is organised by the Flemish department for the General Government Policy in cooperation with the Flemish department for Foreign Affairs and the Liaison Agency Flanders-Europe (vleva), with the support of the Flemish minister-president Kris Peeters. The workshop takes place in the Albert Hall, Chausée de Wavre, 649-651, 1040 Brussels.
During the plenary part of this workshop, we will introduce you to Flanders in Action. During 3 parallel more in-depth working sessions with focus on long term regional strategies, the governance aspects of Flanders in Action, the monitoring of progress and the Europe 2020 dimension, will be further elaborated in detail.
After the lunch break, 4 parallel working sessions will take place with emphasis on the implementation of the EU2020 Flagship Initiatives by regions. Flanders, for its part, intends to accelerate progress making use of the transition methodology. Thirteen transitions have been defined as a Flemish answer to the challenges mentioned in the European Flagship Initiatives.
