On Saturday 7 May 2011 the European institutions held their annual open day.
 
Everyone was welcome to visit the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the Committee of the Regions and the European Economic and Social Committee.
 
In and around the buildings there were music, exhibitions, debates and quizzes organized.
 
The Liaison Agency Flanders-Europe (vleva) presented Flanders. This year Flanders had a booth in the Committee of the Regions and at the European Parliament.

The Flemish stand in the Committee of the Regions offered the visitors brochures of Flanders.
Visitors could also participate in a quiz to win a traveler’s check in Flanders.

The Flemish booth was located close to the exit of the European Parliament.
An exposition of the winners of the “State of the European Union 2009” was held.
Brochures of Flanders and vleva were there for those who were interested. Also gadgets were handed out.
Finally there were also Flemish treats handed out: mumbollen and Hagelandse speculaas.

For the fourth year in a row there was a quiz where you could win a traveler’s check in Flanders.
The aim was to link 8 pictures of Flanders’ trump card with the correct city in Flanders.

183 visitors took a chance at winning the traveler’s check, 127 of whom answered all questions correctly.
Winner of the traveler’s check of Flanders of €150: Marc Desmeytere.
The winner will be contacted and the check will be sent on to him.
